How to Select The Right Companies for Home Owners Insurance
Hey, what’s up, everyone. Frank from Frank Jr Buys Houses here on a beautiful Friday in Central Florida in St. Cloud, actually today. Really bothered this morning because a customer reached out and when we go to help customers, we consider that we’re their advocates. So we’re going to help them in whatever situation that they need and in today’s case, the customer reached out and is having an insurance problem because there was a leak inside the wall and in the kitchen and so she has insurance and she gets it fixed and whatever and meanwhile, the insurance company is not only canceling her because she wants them to pay and she’s made a claim.
She’s paid faithfully, but now they’re not wanting to pay and they’re not wanting to fix it and so here’s this customer who’s having to take her pots and pans and dishes and wash them in the bathroom because she doesn’t have a kitchen at this point because it was damaged by what happened with the water leak.
So when you’re out there looking to buy a house, be sure that your real estate agent or somebody vets, the insurance company for you, that they have a good track record of paying the freaking claims. I used to live in South Florida. So I understand this, that when you make claims, they look at, a lot of times, insurance companies look at it and go, “Well, you paid this much money and your claim is this much and so we don’t want you as a customer anymore,” right? So you finally need them, then they want to cancel you and in this case, that’s what’s happened with this homeowner and now as a result, she’s looking to sell her house because she doesn’t have the money to replace the kitchen and she doesn’t want to keep washing dishes in the bathroom.
So as you’re out looking for houses and you’re wanting… Because a lot of times we don’t think about, well, we got insurance company, we’re good. Be sure the insurance company has a record of coming through and paying their claims. This infuriates me. We’re advocates for customers and this is wrong and I just want to be sure that we can help as many people as possible.
Look at this part of it. A lot of great home owners insurance companies out there, a lot of them do the right thing. Some of them don’t and we’ve come across one today that looks like they’re not doing the right thing. Don’t get yourself caught in that. Be sure you’re vetting and the people that are helping you buy your home are doing the same thing for you. Have a great day.
